Bullet Resistant Doors and Frames Technical Data

Doors:
  • Thickness: 1 13/16 inch (+/- 1/16 inch)
  • Actual Door Size: Door undersized from nominal by 1/4 inch width and 7/8 inch height. Standard undercut is 3/4 inch.
  • Hinge Rail and Reinforcement: Hinge edge is non-beveled and is reinforced with a continuous 10 gage steel channel projection welded at a maximum 5 inches on center.
  • Lock Rail: Lock edge is non-beveled and reinforced with a continuous 14 gage steel channel projection welded at a maximum 5 inches on center. 16 gage reinforcements for mortise or cylindrical locks are of an integral type in accordance with ANSI A115 standards. (Beveled lock edge 1/8 inch in 2 inches optional.)
  • Top Channel: Top channel is a flush 16 gage channel, projection welded at a maximum 2 1/2 inches center.
  • Bottom Channel: Bottom Channel is inverted 16 gage steel channel, projection welded at a maximum 2 1/2 inches on center
  • Cores Available: Level 1 and 6 - Polystyrene, Level 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 - Polystyrene with armor plating
  • Face Skins: 14 gage cold rolled or galvannealed steel
  • Closer Reinforcement (optional): Only available on Level 1 and 6
  • Size Availabilty: Minimum 1 foot x 1 foot (1'0" x 1'0"), Maximum 5 feet x 10 feet (5'0" x 10'0")
  • SDI 100 Level / Model: Level 4 and Model 1 or 2
  • Universal Standard / Heavy Weight Hinge: Hinge fillers are used allowing for an easy modification from standard to heavy weight hinge preparations. Levels 1,2,3, and 6 come standard with 4 1/2 inch hinge preps up to 3480 doors. Larger doors and levels 4, 5, 7 and 8 are recommended to be prepped for continuous geared hinge application.
  • Handing Design: Non-Handed standard on doors (optional handed)
  • Hinge Backset: 1/4 inch
Frames:
  • Frame Thickness: Made to accommodate 14 gage door - 2 inch rabbet (+/- 1/16 inch)
  • Gages: 14 gage only
  • Stop: 5/8 inch standard
  • Closer Reinforcement (Optional): 1 3/8 inch x 14 inch x 12 gage plate: 12 gage Snap-In, or 12 inch long x 12 gage sleeve. (Available on Level 1 only)
  • Universal Standard / Heavy Weight Hinge: Frames shall have a 9 gage steel hinge reinforcement plate, projection welded with provisions for 4 1/2 inch x 4 1/2 inch template hinges. Hinge plate is designed to be modified to accept a heavy weight hinge by removing four projections. (Optional - 8 inch or 10 inch, 7 gage reinforcements)(See door information for more detail)
  • Strike Prep: Frames shall have a 14 gage steel strike reinforcement plate, extruded and formed to the equivalent 10 gage, projection welded with provisions for Universal ANSI A115.1 or ANSI A115.2 strike (4 7/8 inches).
  • Hinge Backset: 5/16 inch
  • Backbend: 7/16 inch (single return) / 1/2 inch (double return)
  • Anchors: Masonry wire, T, and existing opening punch and dimple. Sill anchors are included with all ME frames (welded or sill anchor)
  • Silencer Prep: 9/32 inch diameter holes shall be provided as standard on strike jambs and double headers (3 per strike jamb and 2 per double head). Mutes are not supplied and must be ordered separately.
  • Double Heads: Double heads are undersized 1/16 inch
  • Mortar Guards: Mortar guards of 26 gage steel shall be welded to each hinge and strike reinforcement plate.
  • Profiles: Equal Rabbet, Unequal Rabbet, Single Rabbet
  • Handing: Frames are handed
