CERTIFIED PROTECTION FROM NATURE'S STRONGEST STORMS

Republic Hurricane certified doors and frames combine the strength of specially designed hollow metal product with the trusted security of Allegion hardware.  HUR(I) DL16 and DE14 Series Impact doors and ME/SE Series hurricane resistant frames are designed to stand up to nature’s fiercest barrage of wind and water.

Republic impact resistant assemblies are tough enough for all hurricane prone regions. Designed for High Velocity Hurricane Zones, these assemblies are approved in Miami/Dade, Broward and Coastal Palm Beach, as well as high wind speed / high risk category areas outside of Florida.   For exterior openings outside of wind-borne debris regions where wind speeds are under 130 mph, standard Republic DP, DL, and DE doors with ME/SE Series frames are approved and listed for non-impact / E330 labeled applications.

Ordering Assistance Tools: COACH and LOOKUP Approval

Republic’s Customer Order Assistant for Certified Hurricane, or COACH*, simplifies ordering FBC approved openings, allowing you to easily find approved products including listed assembly hardware. Additionally, Republic offers LOOKUP tools for approvals and for anchor selection.

Steps for utilizing COACH & LOOKUP tools

  • Ask your architect or professional engineer licensed in your area for this information
    • Impact/Non-impact Requirements (Level A-D typical / Level E / Non-Impact E330)
    • Design pressure (based on wind zone map and risk category, but requires a professional engineer to calculate complicated variables per FBC and ASCE 7-10)
    • Wall construction (approvals identify anchoring requirements by wall construction)

  • DOWNLOAD tools to assist you with selection and ordering
    • Go to us.allegion.com or access through Allegion 360 Portal launchpad > us. allegion.com
    • LOGIN with your Allegion ID / Customer ID and password (top right of screen)
    • Click on "My Resources" (top right)
    • Click on "Republic Resources" (lower left column)
    • See Republic Resources > Hurricane > download COACH and LOOKUP tools
  • COACH FBC Order Assistant & Order Form Generation Tool (order wizard)
    • After downloading to your PC, if your file icon shows the Access logo, then double click or open in MS Access. If your file icon is blank, then you will need to download Microsoft Access Runtime. (click this link for the free application with x86 or more common x64 option). You do not need to know how to use Access or Access Runtime
    • COACH provides easy step by step instructions after opening
      • Build your openings from drop down menus and output your order form
      • Add Elevation drawings / information
      • Print and double check before emailing your order form to verify your intended order
      • Pricing is not included in COACH. This is an order assistant and form generating tool.

  • Approval LOOKUP Tool -- A Filterable summary of FBC listing approvals
    • The COACH tool will find approved products including approved hardware. But if you want to see available options when your other main criteria are not set, you may find this tool helpful
    • This tool will direct you to the correct listing approvals on certified agency websites to verify selected product configurations and view installation instructions prior to ordering and installing

  • Anchor LOOKUP Tool -- Anchor types and quantities for Republic FBC hurricane approvals
    • Find approved anchors and quantity based on your wall construction and listing approval
    • Always double check your listing approval to verify the correct approved anchors, quantity and installation instructions
Note: Please verify that you have the latest versions of the COACH Order Form, Lookup Tool, Approvals/install instructions, and Price Book before ordering and installing. The Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) is the final authority in issues related to the installation and use of any building products. While we have tried to maintain accuracy in product literature and tools, A%20care%20fac).pngllegion is not responsible for errors and omissions, and is not responsible for verifying that the correct products for your opening are ordered or installed correctly in the field. Requirements, Wind Zone Maps and Risk Category of Buildings

While a local professional engineer is required to provide the final opening requirements for Impact vs Non-Impact and to provide the required min PSF for your building, the below information can be used to estimate:

  • All Allegion hurricane products designated for impact are approved to meet a minimum Level D Impact (Risk Categories I, II, III) with some meeting level E (Risk Categories IV, III health care)
  • Impact Requirements per FBC HVHZ and E1996
    • Impact door assemblies are required for wind-borne debris regions within one mile of the coastal high water line where FBC wind speed maps designate 130 mph or greater; also any areas designated > 140 mph

  • Non-Impact / E330 Requirements per FBC 1710.5.2 and IBC 2015 1709.5.2
    • Non-Impact door assemblies are required for all exterior openings not already labeled for impact & higher pressures, typically inland <130 mph wind zones
    • FBC Wind Zone map and Risk Category of Buildings reference (link to site maps - Note: some images may view better in IE or Firefox)
