SE/SH Series Universal Sticks provide unlimited flexibility for opening systems, used to fabricate even the most complex entrance fronts, partitions and window wall designs for light to 14ga maximum duty (12ga available), level 1-4 applications for interior and exterior locations in commercial and industrial buildings.

Assemblies are normally welded for strength without seams from three basic components: Open sections (perimeter members), Mullion sections (intermediate members), and Sill sections (bottom members). Mullion sections available in 16 and 14 gage only and have the same identical jamb depths as open sections.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Typical frame elevations include:

  • Transom: door frame with transom bar and glass, panel or louver above door opening
    • Transom bar separates door opening from transom opening
    • Frame height will vary, but normally extends to ceiling above
  • Ceiling height: door frame without transom bar and panel mounted above door
    • Panel is normally same thickness and material as door
    • Frame height will vary, but normally extends to ceiling
  • Transom sidelight: door frame with transom bars and mullions dividing entire frame into door and glass or panel openings
    • Frame height will vary, but normally extends to ceiling
  • Sidelight: door frame with glass openings attached to one or both sides of door opening
    • Sidelight portion may be partial height of door opening or extend entire height of door
    • Frame matches door height
    • If frame is greater than door height, frame is defined as transom sidelight frame
  • Borrowed light: four-sided frame without door opening, prepared for glass installation in the field
    • Borrowed light may be designed for one or multiple pieces of glass
    • Frame may be located in wall off floor or sit on floor and extend to ceiling above

Features

  • Standard components are either open (anchoring into a wall), or closed (mullions and dividers) sections
    • Components are available in 18- 16- and 14-gauge non-galvannealed or optional galvannealed steel or 16- and 14-gauge G90 (except as otherwise noted). Mullion (intermediate, closed sections) are only available in 16- and 14-gauge.
    • Components are available as either single- or double-rabbet
    • All sill sections (members attached to floor) are recommended as galvannealed steel
    • All frame open sections feature a standard 7/16” returns except the SH Series double backbend frames, which feature 1/2” returns
    • Typical Sticks are manufactured in 10'3" maximum lengths. Other lengths and profiles may be available upon request.
  • May be welded at the factory or shipped as separate components to fabricate locally to save shipping costs, improve delivery lead time, and expand design limitations

Exceeds industry standards

  • Republic is SDI Certified through regular audits to ensure manufacturing, performance and quality standards set by the Steel Door Institute
  • Overall frame construction exceeds ANSI A250.8-2017 (SDI-100), the standard set by SDI specifying sizes, design, materials, construction, finishing and performance for standard commercial steel doors and frames
  • Hardware preparations and reinforcements meet ANSI A250.6-2003, and locations meet ANSI/DHI A115, unless otherwise stated
  • Frames meet fire rating requirements; they are listed for installations requiring compliance to both neutral pressure testing (ASTM E152 and UL-10B) and positive pressure standards (UL-10C)
  • Factory-applied baked-on rust inhibiting primer meets ANSI A250.10-2011
